‘PyeongChang fully prepared for 2018 Winter Olympics’

Korea’s culture minister said Wednesday the nation is ready to host the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, one of the three candidate cities selected with Munich in Germany and Annecy in France.

“A large-scale $140 million Olympic complex Alpensia Resort has opened in PyeongChang and it can be the hub of winter sports in Asia,” said Yu In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, at a media briefing in southern Seoul.

“All competition venues in the Alpensia cluster and the coastal cluster can be reached within 30 minutes from PyeongChang,” he said.

Yu said Korea has also bid to host the 2022 World Cup to further spread an enthusiastic passion for soccer in Asia.
